History
We believe that everyone in Tabkaew knows about the library as well as Sa Kaew. But the frequency of going to the library, sitting among the letters that are connected together in each book, and the frequency of walking on the bridge of Sa Kaew in the middle of water and wind, might be different. Depends on our lifestyles.
Library is a short and easy word which means Sanam Chandra Palace Library, the Central Library of Silpakorn University. It is a long name in the official language, which those in the government agency can understand the meaning after seeing it. But not every time. Therefore, we would like to explain where it came from.
The Central Library is a department that takes care of the library, like parents who have several children who all work in different places. The children we mentioned are Sanam Chandra Palace Library, Thapra Palace Library, and Phetchaburi Information Technology Campus Library.
Sanam Chandra Palace Library was founded in 1968. It was a very small library, but it was decent enough for the number of students at the time. As the university expanded, so did the library. From a small room to a two-story building, then a four-story building. Finally, we have another building, this time a five-story one. The library’s space has become more stable as it has become older. In 2007, the first building named as Sanam Chandra Palace Library, had been renovated to create a beautiful look. It is commonly known that it represents the university where art and decorating are taught. Another building, named M.L. Pin Malakul Building, was used as a library in 2001. It is also an outstanding building owing to the talents of leading Thai architects.
The next stability is our services. Every day, whether the library is open or closed, all 27 lives are content with our work, both foreground and background. The background task is to focus on providing and systematize with speed and satisfaction. The foreground task is to provide the best service as possible, find ways for everyone to read and use information resources in the library in an efficient way throughout their life studying at the university.
All the tasks that we are willing to do, with the expectation that everyone would enjoy reading and using suitable information technology, as well as cultivating themselves to be aware of world changes. To be a stable and strong graduate.
